Eunhee Chung is an assistant professor in the Department of Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences. Her research investigates the molecular mechanisms of cardiac adaptation in response to pregnancy and exercise training. Specifically, Chung’s research involves investigating the signaling pathways responsible for regression of cardiac hypertrophy following pregnancy and exercise training. Reducing heart mass in patients with pathological hypertrophy improves patient outcomes. Thus, her research is translational in nature as the findings could be applied therapeutically in order to combat pathological cardiac hypertrophy, for which there is currently no successful treatment.
