Jennifer Vanos is an assistant professor in the Department of Geosciences. Her research involves study of the relationships between heat waves, pollution and human health. In her research, she makes on-site measurements of the physical conditions in an area undergoing extreme events and relates these data back to hospital-related data from regional and state data banks. Furthermore, her work can be adapted to understanding environmental stress on livestock and on bird and mammal populations as they respond to climate variability.
