Jian Wang is a professor in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction and the Helen DeVitt Jones Endowed Chair for Teacher Education. Wang served as professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the Department of Teaching and Learning. He received a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Wang’s research focuses on the relationship between student learning, teaching, and teacher learning in the various contexts of curriculum systems, teaching organizations, and teaching and teacher education reforms. His research focus is identified by three specific lines of scholarly work:
- the inquiry into various issues related to teacher learning and teacher mentoring in the context of teacher education reform
- the exploration of the relationship between different kinds of teaching practices, contexts of curriculum, and teaching organizations from a comparative perspective
- student mathematics learning under the influences of teaching and non-teaching contexts from a comparative perspective.
