Kathleen Strickland-Cohen is an assistant professor of special education in the Department of Educational Psychology & Leadership. Strickland-Cohen comes to the TTU College of Education from the University of Oregon, where she received her Ph.D. in special education in 2012. Strickland-Cohen’s primary research pivots on building local capacity in schools to enhance the sustainability of effective practices for students who require individualized behavioral supports and interventions. Specifically, her research is focused on teaching district-level behavior support professionals to train two to three individuals within each school building to utilize functional behavioral assessment technology in developing function-based behavior support plans for students with non-dangerous challenging behaviors.
