Lea Hellmueller is an assistant professor of journalism. Prior to her current position, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas at Austin (January-May 2013), visiting researcher at the University of Santiago (Chile, June 2013) and Fulbright student and Swiss NSF scholar at the Missouri School of Journalism (2010-2012). Her dissertation—under contract with Palgrave to be published in 2014—was a joint supervision between the Missouri School of Journalism and the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. Currently she is the co-investigator of the Journalistic Role Performance around the Globe Project, heading and coordinating research activities in 25 countries (www.journalisticperformance.org). An edited book on the project was submitted to Routledge in July 2013. Her work, mostly focusing on journalism’s professional roles and performances in a digital and transnational news environment, has appeared in academic journals, such as Journalism Studies, Journalism Practice and Communication Research Trends, as well as in book chapters published in German and English.
