Peter Keyel is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on activation of macrophages and their roles in atherosclerosis, immune signaling and cancer cell death. He seeks to understand how these components of the immune system are activated through TLR signaling and conversion of macrophages into foam cells. His research has direct application to cancer development and suppression for understanding the dynamics of cell-cell contact and development and for reducing heart disease.
