Amy BorenPrior to joining the Texas Tech faculty, Boren worked as a research assistant professor-online education coordinator, and research assistant professor-international liaison at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also worked as a leadership development specialist with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture; Executive Director with El Centro de las Américas; and a lecturer at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Boren received her bachelor's degrees from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and her master's degree from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her doctorate in human sciences-leadership studies is from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Awards for Boren include United Way of Lincoln/Lancaster County 'Spirit of United Way' Award (2009); Lincoln Police Department Outstanding Service Award to Victims of Crime (2008); and University-wide Departmental Teaching Award (2007).
