Dr. Kleinhans is in the avant-garde of her field of research, and her hire will be of great benefit to increasing research and graduate student capacity in German studies across the university. Her research interests are in the areas of biopolitics in literature, cultural and literary animal studies, literary texts and the philosophy of language, the relationship between body theories, embodiment and literature, and environmental humanities. Kleinhans received her PhD from the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies, University of Waterloo in 2013. Prior to coming to TTU, she was a lecturer in beginning German at the University of Manitoba.
