Dr. McGuire is an animal biologist who is investigating how animals cope with energy limitations and the implications of this constraint on conservation issues. Within this context he is examining migration, thermoregulation, flight physiology and hibernation of birds and bats. To conduct these studies he uses a variety of techniques that include molecular biology, biochemistry, animal physiology, and ECHO-MRI. McGuire received his PhD in Biology, Ecology and Evolution from the University of Western Ontario in 2012. Prior to joining TTU, McGuire was an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biology at the University of Winnipeg.
