Dr. Cong's research mostly focuses on advanced manufacturing. His research activities include rotary ultrasonic machining of high performance materials (Titanium, Stainless steel, CFRP composite, and Ceramic), machining (slicing, lapping, grinding, etching, polishing, and drilling) of semiconductor materials, size reduction and ultrasonic pretreatment of cellulosic biomass for biofuels manufacturing, and additive manufacturing of carbon fiber reinforced composites. Cong received his PhD in industrial engineering from the Kansas State University in 2013. Prior to joining the TTU IE department, he was a research assistant professor in the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department at Kansas State University.
