Sanja Zivkovic has been named an assistant professor in agribusiness with the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, effective Jan. 1. The Serbian native indicated that she is particularly interested in continuing her research efforts on agribusiness management and entrepreneurship. Her research interests focus on early business survival challenges of young farmers and entrepreneurs, development of management skills, and strategies for success in agribusiness. One of her primary goals here at Tech is to develop professionally in academia world and consistently tend toward excellence in teaching and research while promoting agricultural science development. In addition to teaching and research, she coordinates the Master of Agribusiness program. Her efforts focus on creating networks with leaders in agribusiness industry and thus provide students with greater internship and job opportunities. Prior to joining the Texas Tech faculty, Zivkovic served as a post-doctoral research associate at Texas A&M University's Department of Agricultural Economics, a research assistant in Tech's Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, and a senior administrator with the Delta Generali Insurance Company in Belgrade, Serbia. Zivkovic received her bachelor's degree in international trade from the University of Belgrade-Faculty of Economics. Her master's degree and doctorate in agricultural and applied economics are from Texas Tech.
