Bob Hickerson
Chief Operating Officer, TTU Off-Campus Sites
Beginning September 1, 2005, Robert Hickerson became Chief Operating Officer-TTU Off-Campus Sites, reporting to me. He will coordinate the activities, programs and personnel at the following TTU Recognized Teaching Sites: Abilene, Amarillo, Fredericksburg, Highland Lakes, and Junction.
Bob joined Texas Tech University in November 2000. Prior to that, he served for three years as the Executive Director of the Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service in Austin. He also directed the Governor’s Office of Volunteerism. Col, Hickerson was founding Executive Director for the Seaborne Conservation Corps, a residential training, education and service program for youth conducted by Texas A&M.
A naval aviator with 28 years of active service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Hickerson graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1966 with a B.A. in Physiology. He holds a master’s degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, as well as a master’s degree in International Security Affairs from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
Hickerson has taught as an adjunct professor in the MBA program of St. Edward’s University in Austin, teaches a nonprofit management certificate program through Texas Tech Outreach & Distance Education, served for three years as the Executive Director of the Texas Foundation for Volunteerism and Community Service, and is currently a director of the Texas Nonprofit Management Assistance Network. Hickerson is President of the Skyhawk Association, an international organization of military pilots from 16 countries. He and his wife Judy reside in Fredericksburg.
