The Lauro Cavazos & Ophelia Powell-Malone Mentoring Program (Mentor Tech) was introduced during the fall semester of the 2002. Named for Dr. Lauro F. Cavazos, the first undergraduate to serve as President of Texas Tech University and Ophelia Powell-Malone, the first African American undergraduate of Texas Tech University, the program seeks to enhance the quality of the educational experiences of students from underrepresented groups through programs, services, advocacy, and campus and community involvement. Raiders Helping Others is dedicated to helping others in the Lubbock community and beyond. Members of Raiders Helping Others volunteer to perform two community service projects per month throughout the academic year. Additionally, members will be selected from within the group to attend a distance spring break service trip. New group members are selected by current members early in the fall semester. Members are expected to participate in community service projects, social activities, and fundraising events. All expenses associated with the service events and spring break trip are paid by group members or through fundraisers.

The Spirit Squads lead the fans in supporting the teams at football, basketball, and volleyball games. They serve as ambassadors not only at athletic events, but also at many different school functions. In addition, the Spirit Squads gladly participate in their community by volunteering at local schools, charity events, and youth organizations. Being a proud part of the Texas Tech Spirit Program is more than just a year-round commitment. It means dedication from each member to maintain the school spirit of the students, the alumni, and the fans. CURE TECH strives to raise awareness about disabilities in the developing world while providing support for these children through our own communities here at Texas Tech University and around Lubbock. By hosting fundraisers, we raise money to sponsor surgical procedures, while also empowering the students and residents of Texas Tech University to realize that together we can make a difference. CURE TECH will enable active members to apply to attend mission trips with Cure International to one of their Cure hospital locations.

That's the motto of Up 'til Dawn, a student-led, student-run, philanthropic program hosted by colleges and universities nationwide to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A group of students educate the entire student body on St. Jude and recruit teams of five or more to participate in Up 'til Dawn. Teams fundraise through various side events and then come together to celebrate their accomplishments at the Up 'til Dawn Celebration event. Join the movement. It is a non-profit corporation, which provides, through contributions of Lions, and non-Lions, millions of dollars to programs for the needy. The foundation has three major objectives: humanitarian services, which encompasses a wide range of projects from the local level, to universal needs such as eradicating preventable blindness and sponsoring drug awareness and education programs for youth; financial vocational training including those programs that help the underprivileged and disabled gain independence so they can improve their economic and social well-being, and lead more productive lives; and major disaster relief, which helps rebuild and restore important programs and services after a natural disaster. Campus Lions Club provides the opportunity for the campus community to address the unique needs on their college campus and reach out to the local community and communities around the world- all Lions are dedicated to seeking out and helping those in need. It gives members an opportunity to give back to their communities, while engaging in service learning and gaining experience to help their field of study, such as marketing, public relations, accounting, medicine or political science. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world's blind, Lions club have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community.
