C. Cukrowicz, Ph.D.
Kelly Cukrowicz, Director of the Suicide and Depression Research Program, received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Florida State University in 2005. After completing her dissertation at Florida State University under the direction of Dr. Thomas Joiner, she completed a predoctoral internship in Cognitive Behavior Therapy at Duke University Medical Center. She then completed a one-year, National Institute on Aging funded postdoctoral fellowship at Duke’s Center for Aging and Human Development. Dr. Cukrowicz joined the faculty of Texas Tech University as an Assistant Professor in 2006. Phillip N. Smith, M.S. Phillip Smith is a sixth year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology program. Phil is currently on internship at the Southwest Consortium/New Mexico VA. Phil is a graduate of Gettysburg College and earned his BA in Psychology in 2001 and an MS in Psychology from Villanova University in 2003. Phil has conducted research on the |
cognitive correlates of depression, anxiety, and anger using time ordered designs. Currently, Phil is conducting his dissertation project; which will focus on the habituation process involved in the acquired capacity to enact lethal self-harm as highlighted in Joiner's (2005) Interpersonal-Psychological Theory of suicide. Matthew Jacobs, B.A.
Matt is currently a first year graduate research assistant for the Suicide and Depression Research Program in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program. Matt’s research interests are in late life suicide, family interactions, and health psychology. He graduated from Syracuse University in May 2005 with a B.A. in psychology. Erin Schlegel, B.A. Erin is currently a second year graduate research assistant in the Suicide and Depression Research Program in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program. Erin graduated from Ohio State University in 2007. Erin conducted an honor's thesis on cognitive therapy for depression. Her research interests include depression and suicide risk.
