Membership
in the Academy has two levels, full and associate. The benefits
of full membership include a one year subscription to the Academy
journal, Archives of Suicide Research and
full access to the Academy's website.
Criteria
for full membership
- The
person should be an outstanding and internationally recognised
researcher in the field of suicide as indicated by publications
in peer review journals. Minimum years of activity: 10 years.
- The
research need not necessarily be empirical research, but
can include theoretical, ethical or legal research work.
- Should
be highly recommended by peers.
- No
history of scientific misconduct.
Criteria
for associate membership
- Currently
actively engaged in scholarly research in the area of suicidal
behavior as indicated by publications in peer review journals.
- The
research need not necessarily be empirical research, but
can include theoretical ethical or legal research work.
- Should
be highly recommended by peers.
- No
history of scientific misconduct.
Procedure for recommending someone for membership
to the IASR
The
applicant requires letters of nomination from two (2) current
full members.
The
applicant also needs to submit their curriculum vitae, and
publications list (via email and as a Word attachement).

All
materials received will be reviewed by the Membership Committee,
and the applicant will be notified by letter of the Academy's
decision.
