| Research opportunities are diverse and can include collaborations
with faculty in other departments as well as across specializations within
experimental psychology. Topics of interest include the following:
Applications in Health: human factors in medicine; image-guided
interventions in laporoscopic surgery; web designs for the
visually impaired; aging; management of chronic pain (e.g., design of effective work and
rest schedules); motor performance and assessment of rehabilitation procedures;
attitudes toward environmental accommodation of people with disabilities
and elderly individuals
Human Computer Interaction:
Internet usability and accessibility, Interface design and optimization Human Factors in Transportation:
Aviation/Aerospace: air traffic control; cockpit displays; night
vision goggles; team communication and crew performance
Surface Transportation. age differences in driving; visual perception of collision; detection
of deceleration
Learning Technologies: distance learning; Internet-mediated instruction;
metacognition in education; student-computer and electronic conference
interactions, and technology and instruction
