For All New Benefits Eligible Staff Employees
New employees must have an eRaider User ID and password to register online using the new learning management system, TotalLMS. If the new employee does not have an eRaider User ID and password yet, simply eMail quality.registration@ttu.edu to reserve a seat. Please include the employee's name, supervisor's name, department, and telephone number in your request. Any additional information you provide may also be helpful. Questions? As of September 1, 2006, employees must complete the New Employee Orientation (1 day), SERVICEplus class (1/2 day), and Workplace Violence Prevention (online or instructor-led class, 1 to 3 hours).
The one-day New Employee Orientation replaces the following classes: Benefits Orientation, EEO Non-discrimination and Prevention of Sexual Harassment training, New Employee Safety Orientation, and the Welcome Event for new employees.
The New Employee Orientation provides information about current TTU operations. Participants will be acquainted with Texas Tech traditions and culture, meet key executives and other new employees, and learn about departments that provide employee services. The New Employee Orientation is designed to help the employee make a quick and successful transition as a new employee at Texas Tech University.
Who should attend? All new "benefits-eligible" staff employees are required to attend the New Employee Orientation within the first 30 days of employment and as close to their first day on the job as possible.
What defines the term, "benefits-eligible new staff employee"? The conditions that identify someone as a "benefits-eligible new staff employee" are as follows:
- at least half-time with an initial appointment of at least 4.5 months
- rehired as a new employee,
- transferred from TTUHSC,
- hired as a temporary employee and eligible for benefits, and/or
- changed FTE from a non-benefits-eligible status/title to a benefits-eligible status.

*Faculty, teaching assistants, graduate assistants, and research assistants should contact the Benefits Office for information about benefits orientation. Faculty, teaching assistants, graduate assistants, and research assistants are required to complete the EEO training online or attend an instructor-led class within the first 30 days of employment.
