·        Increase RHA memberships to 1,300 by September 30, 2009

The Executive Committee’s long-term goal:

·        Have RHA members in all 254 Texas counties

·        Have RHA members in all 50 states of the United States

Current RHA membership stats as of February 28, 2009:

·        1,075 RHA memberships

·        Members reside in 146 Texas counties

·        Members reside in 39 states and the District of Columbia

To build momentum toward increasing members by September 2009, a membership contest has been initiated beginning September 1, 2008, to end September 30, 2009. The winner will be announced at the 2009 Golden Spur Award dinner, October 17, and in the fall issue of the Ranch Record.

The winner of the contest will receive a custom-made pair of boots.

Rules of the contest:

·        All RHA members are eligible and encouraged to participate in the contest.

·        Participants must be current RHA members.

·        An individual will be awarded one point for each new membership obtained either by purchasing a gift membership for someone or persuading someone to become an RHA member.

·        A membership renewal does not count but obtaining a membership for someone whose membership lapsed a year or more before the new membership will count as a new membership for the contest, and the individual obtaining the membership will receive one point.

·        An individual who obtains the first membership with a mailing address in a Texas county or state that currently does not have an RHA member will receive an extra point. Only the first membership in a new Texas county or new state will receive the bonus point.

·        The name of the individual who provides the gift membership or persuades someone to become a new member must be documented on the membership form so that the individual gets credit for the new membership.

·        Junior Rough Riders memberships are excluded from the contest.
