The Children’s Library at the National
Ranching Heritage Center will be the beneficiary of a Bookfair at
Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Lubbock from April 28 through May 5,
2007.
During that week, the store will donate
a portion of each sale to the NRHC project, if the consumer presents
a Bookfair Voucher to cashiers at the time of purchase. Vouchers are
available online at the National Ranching Heritage Center’a Web site
— www.nrhc.ttu.edu/bnvoucher.pdf
— and in hard copy at the NRHC, which is located at 3121 Fourth
Street.
The Bookfair will help the National
Ranching Heritage Center Children’s Library in several ways,
according to Manager of Education Christy Lemons.
“First, a percentage of Bookfair sales
will underwrite the children’s library,” she said. “Second, we will
provide Barnes & Noble with a wish list of titles needed to enhance
our children’s library collection. The list will be displayed at
Barnes & Noble. Bookfair supporters may choose books from that wish
list to purchase and donate to our Children’s Library. Just remember
to bring your voucher when you shop.”
As a finale to the Bookfair, Ranch Hosts
volunteers will present a story time at Barnes & Noble on Saturday,
May 5, at 11 a.m. They will also teach children how to churn butter
and make rope.
The National Ranching Heritage Center is
a museum and historical park established to preserve the history of
ranching and pioneer life in North America. Forty-five structures,
including a depot, train, bunkhouse, one-room schoolhouse, dugouts,
windmills and ranch homes, were relocated from ranches in the
Southwest and restored to reflect life from 1780 through 1930. Each
is furnished or outfitted. Exhibits, special events and educational
programs with living history re-enactors are held throughout the
year.
Barnes & Noble Booksellers is located at
6707 Slide Road in Lubbock. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. For
