Peter Smith has been a community banker in Lubbock for over 20 years.  He has been with Happy State Bank since their entrance into the Lubbock market in 2012 and currently serves as Senior Vice President – Commercial Lending.  A lifelong West Texas resident, Peter holds a degree from Texas Tech University in Agricultural and Applied Economics and is a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.   He is a strong advocate for community banking, currently serving as Vice Chair of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) Leadership Division as well as sitting on the Advisory Board for the Texas Tech School of Banking.

Peter is active in his community serving and having served on various boards and committees.  He is a volunteer for many local organizations and is a recent Past President of the Greater Southwest Lubbock Rotary Club.

Peter is an avid hunter and golfer.  He is a devoted Red Raider and loves coaching his sons in their various endeavors.
