David A. Northcut
David Northcut is a partner in Ernst & Young LLP's National Tax Practice and Global Director of EY's Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory practice. Based in Dallas, TX, David has over 30 years of experience serving the tax and accounting needs of clients. In his role as Global Director, David regularly consults with the firm's largest clients regarding complex tax, international and accounting issues.
David also serves as a Global Tax Accounting Quality Control Review Partner for many of the firm's largest public clients. In this role, he regularly meets with EY teams related to complex tax accounting matters including the tax accounting implications of business combinations, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, equity compensation, and foreign operations. David works with clients under both US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
David has extensive experience related to the tax accounting implications of large,
complex multinational acquisitions including the application of purchase price accounting
and tax accounting implications of post-acquisition integration transactions. He
has served as both the lead tax accounting resource as well as tax accounting technical
advisor on numerous transactions. David has served clients in a number of industries
including aerospace/defense, energy, manufacturing, private equity, retail, technology,
software, and utilities. David is a frequent speaker and instructor on various tax
David leads EY's recruiting effort at Texas Tech and is regularly engaged with students throughout the recruiting process. David received both his undergraduate degree in Accounting and his graduate degree in Taxation from Texas Tech University. His wife, Claire, and his sons (Stephen and Nicolas) are all Red Raider alumni. He also has two daughters currently attending Texas Tech.
