E. Murphy Markham IV
E. Murphy Markham IV is a Managing Partner at EnCap Investments, which is a leading
provider of private equity to the upstream and midstream oil and gas companies.
Prior to joining EnCap in July 2006, Markham was the managing director and group head of JPMorgan's Oil & Gas Banking Group and ran Bank One's Oil & Gas Banking Group before Bank One's merger with JPMorgan.
Markham's banking career began with Republic Bank in 1981. He remained with the bank and its ultimate successor, Bank of America, for 22 years, serving as a managing director in its Energy Banking Group.
He serves on the board of directors of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States and the Fort Worth Petroleum Club Wildcat Committee. Markham also serves on the boards of several EnCap portfolio companies.
At Texas Tech University, Markham earned a B.B.A. in Finance in 1980. He also holds a MBA in Accounting from the University of Houston. He currently lives in Westlake, Texas with his wife Theresa. They have three children, who are all married, and eight grandchildren.
