Jerry R. "Jay" Gibson
Jay Gibson focuses his practice on commercial real estate and other business transactions, including the acquisition, financing, management and leasing of office/warehouse, multi-family and retail properties. He advises clients on the financing, refinancing and restructuring of debt facilities, including commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), as well as structuring and documenting the associated equity capital. He also represents clients in the purchase and financing of developed and undeveloped acreage.
Gibson has done extensive work in the CMBS work-out and restructuring area, and in various related bankruptcy and insolvency matters involving real estate. In addition, he counsels clients on matters involving capital market transactions. He also provides counsel to both established companies and start-up and early stage ventures.
At Texas Tech University, Gibson earned a J.D. in 1985 and a B.B.A in Accounting in 1982 (cum laude). He participated in the Legal Research Board, Delta Theta Phi, Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma.
