Robert Taylor joined the United Supermarkets leadership team in 2007 when it purchased R.C. Taylor Distributing. Taylor's family opened the business in 1949 to wholesale tobacco and candy. The business grew into a distribution company servicing grocery and convenience stores in a 100-mile radius of Lubbock. Taylor was president at the time of the United purchase.
At United, Taylor initially served as vice president of logistics for 50 stores. He was named CEO in 2010. Taylor has received numerous professional awards and was presented a Rawls College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award in 2011.
While earning a B.B.A in Management (1971) from Texas Tech University, Taylor served in the Army reserves. He has filled many community service positions with United Way, Salvation Army and Southwest Rotary; is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church; and serves on the PlainsCapital Corporation Board. At Texas Tech he is a member of the Chancellor's Council, Chancellor's Advisory Board and Delta Tau Delta Alumni Association and serves on the board of the Texas Tech Club.
