Dr. Mann received his BBA from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. He joined the Area of Accounting in 1972. He teaches in the area of financial reporting and accounting. His previous work experience was with Grant Thornton Co. He served as the Chair of the Athletic Council of Texas Tech University 1999-2012. Dr. Mann is the KPMG Professor of Accounting at Texas Tech. His teaching and research interests are in the area of financial reporting and accounting. For several years, he has conducted continuing professional education (CPE) courses and seminars for the AICPA, NAA, various state societies, Big 4 and other accounting firms, various companies, and other organizations. He also is the author of ten CPE courses for the Thomson Tax and Accounting division of Thomson Reuters, Inc. One or more of his CPE courses have been adopted by three of the four Big 4 accounting firms.
