Alan Whitebread teaches marketing and international business in Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University. He was formerly Assistant Dean for Business Development for the Rawls College of Business and was responsible for leading corporate services, executive education and professional development.
Alan held senior executive positions in multi-billion dollar firms in the computer and plastics industries before returning to the university. He functioned in key divisions as Chief Marketing Officer of Dysan, Kissner, Moran Corporation, Flambeau Corporation, and Menasha Corporation, and as Managing Director – Europe. Additionally, he was National Operations Manager for software services at Polaroid Corporation. In these roles he was extensively involved with leading-edge marketing issues. He also directed licensing and subsidiary operations in Australia, Canada, England, India, and Japan. He has considerable experience with entities in Austria, China, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, and managed exports to scores of additional countries.
In the marketing role, Alan was responsible for worldwide marketing operations, numerous channels of distribution, product management, new product development, marketing communications, and multiple sales forces. Responsibilities in corporate executive positions included acquisitions, site selection, and strategic planning.
Alan served as a Subject Matter Expert in the development and creation of the NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional [CGBP] exam and continues to serve on the NASBITE Board of Governors. In addition to his duties at TTU, he has conducted merger and acquisition seminars for CitiGroup and HR Block, serves on various boards, has published articles in different fields, been a speaker at numerous national and international functions, and undertakes selected consulting assignments.
