Student Leisure Pool

The Texas Tech Student Leisure Pool is the crown jewel of the Rec Sports Department. Completed in May of 2009, the Student Leisure Pool represents the largest leisure pool on a college campus in the United States. With a 645ft. long lazy river as the center piece of the design, the pool brought in more than 70,000 visitors in it's first summer open.

The Student Leisure Pool was approved by the students of Texas Tech University by referendum on October 6, 2006, a fee increase of $10 per semester to the student recreation fee was instituted for construction of the new Leisure Pool. In addition, students voted on special features to be included in the project. $7.5 million was originally earmarked for construction which was increased to $8.4 million when construction costs increased.
