Aquatic Center Policies

All rules should be followed and strictly enforced by all guards. Consistency in enforcing the pool policies is necessary to insure the safety and enjoyment of all patrons. Corrections should be made in a concise and positive manner. Not all rules are cut and dry, so if you aren’t sure about the enforcement of a rule, ask a supervisor.

The Whistle is the best aid a guard has.
1. One (1) short blast will be used for getting the attention of swimmers for discipline purposes.
2. One (1) long blast will indicate a need to clear the pool (emergency, weather, closing…)

DIVING BOARD
1. Only one person will be allowed on the board at a time. Wait at the bottom of the ladder until the diver is finished.
2. One bounce per dive.
3. Jump or dive straight off the end of the board.
4. No dangerous stunt diving, hand stands, seat bouncing, gaining inward dives, etc.
5. Before diving, make sure the area below the board is clear and the previous diver is out of the diving area.
6. Parents and guardians will not be allowed to catch children who are jumping off the boards.
7. Swimmers will not be allowed to go off the boards unless they can successfully swim back to the side by themselves.
8. Whenever additional rules are deemed advisable for the health and safety of the patrons, the Recreational Aquatic Center Staff may put additional rules into effect. These rules may be written or verbal.

CHILDREN
Valid membership holders may purchase a membership for each of their children. Children under 17 are allowed in the SRC when the facility is open only when accompanied by an adult member. The SRC provides opportunities for parent and child to recreate together and to encourage sport and fitness development. Children must be under direct supervision, which is defined as parent and child playing together within “reach.” Several area restrictions apply: Children 16 and under are not allowed in the Free Weight Room. Children 12-16 are permitted on cardio equipment and in the Machine Weight Room, the Circuit Room and in Fitness classes only when closely supervised as defined above. Children under 12 are not permitted on cardio equipment, equipment and in the Machine Weight Room, the Circuit Room and in Fitness classes.

  • Children Spectators:
Because of facility safety issues and parental supervision conflicts during exercise, we strongly discourage children spectators during parental fitness activities. The following restrictions apply:
Children are not permitted in fitness classes or the Free Weight Room as a spectator.
Children under 11 may not accompany and spectate a parent while the parent is exercising on cardio equipment except cardio machines on the entry level where the child is seated on the bleacher area nearest to the parent.
Children 12-16 must be seated in close proximity so that parent and child can verbally and visually communicate at all times.
Children spectators will be allowed during intramural events only with a second adult directly supervising the child in the bleacher or foyer areas on the entry level.
  • Children and the Recreational Aquatic Center:
Please check the specific family hours for the pool. No flotation devices or flotation equipment are allowed for children.
  • Children and the Climbing Center:
All children under age 18 need to have a parent/guardian sign the risk waiver form.
