Healthy Shopping 101 Grocery Store Tour

Learn from the Market Street Registered Dietitian how to be a healthier shopper.

There will be a second tour on Thursday, April 10. Registration will also be available in the Fit/Well by calling 806-742-3828

How Do Join the Challenge?

Make sure to join the Get Fit Challenge for Texas Tech! Many have registered but not joined the challenge.

Log onto http://www.getfittexas.org/ .

  • Click the “Join Program” link and complete the profile to sign up.
  • On right hand side of the page are sections for “Available Challenges” and “Assigned Challenges.” The 2014 GetFitTexas State Agency Physical Activity Challenge box will be located under the “Available Challenges” section.
  • Click the “Learn More” button and then click “Join”.
  • Once you have joined, the challenge will be located under “Assigned Challenges” section of your MyFit welcome page.
  • Please join the TTU Main Campus or TTU System team from the team page for updates on Get Fit Texas on the Texas Tech Campuses.

Don’t forget your username (your email address) because if you don’t have it you cannot retrieve your password in case you forget it. You must check that you are a state employee and then check the Texas Tech University box to be counted.

Can I make/join a team?

Click on the “Teams” link and follow the directions to create a team. Once someone creates a team they will be able to see the team’s profile. The team creator from the team profile page can click the invite link in the left navigation. This will bring up boxes for first name, last name and email of the person you want to invite. You can communicate with team members from this page.

Can my spouse and friends participate?

Yes, they can participate but they should not click that they are a TTU employee and their minutes will not count for the state competition. They can join a team.

What is considered a week?

The week runs from Sunday through Saturday (except the first week because the start date is Monday, January 13).

How do I log my minutes?

Click on the tracking link and then on Physical Activity. Enter the date, select the activity, level and minutes. You do not have to do a start and end time unless you want that data. The Activity selection is quite extensive. If you do not find your exact activity, you will have to find a similar one. Make sure to click SAVE when you are finished.

How do I edit a Physical Activity after I have saved it?

Click on the Physical History and your past activities should appear. You can make changes by clicking on the wrench/screwdriver and then click update.

Do I have to enter Biometrics?

No, you do not have to do this section. Please note that only you have access to this information if you choose to enter it.

If I forget to log my minutes, can I back track?

You can enter weeks backwards for 2 weeks i.e. on week 3 you can enter for weeks 1 and 2 but in week 4 you can back enter for weeks 2 and 3 but not for week 1.

If I make over 150 minutes in one week will the excess go towards the next week?

No, you will just have excess minutes overall but every week begins again with 0 minutes.

What do I get for completing the challenge?

Everyone who completes the challenge will be entered into a drawing for prizes. We are still working on that list.
