Another exciting softball season came to an end last night; we’ll start on the Women’s side of things. In the Open bracket no one was able to stop the powerhouses of Lady Cougs and JFH Inc., as they met again in the championship game. The Inc. was just too much to handle as they blanked the Lady Cougs 11-0 and clinched a spot in the All-U Championship Game. In the Sorority division Delta Gamma was looking to defend there title from a year ago and looked good against Alpha Phi in a semi-final match-up with the 4-0 win. Kappa held on to for the 10-8 win over Tri Delt, setting up a showdown with DG in the Women’s Greek finale. DG just ran out of gas as Kappa pounded the ball and DG for the 14-0 win, securing the Sorority division and a spot in Women’s All-U Championship Game against JFH Inc. The All-U game wasn’t even close as JFH Inc. didn’t allow a single run to cross the plate and beat Kappa 12-0, becoming a 4-Time Champion! Next we had the Co-Rec Competitive teams take the field, in getting to the final game Bohica crushed Chico’s Bail Bonds making there first appearance in the big game and the Nanny Goats outlasted Darkside and are creating a nice home in the championship game, making there forth strait appearance. Unfortunately for the Goats Bohica was just too much to handle as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back claiming there first title with the 16-11 win! In Co-Rec Recreational Turn 2 was taking on the defending champ, Victory. Turn 2 had the lead heading into the last half of the inning but Victory pulled out the win with an inside-the-park homerun to seal the deal and win the Co-Rec Recreational Bracket. Now we’ll head into the Men’s Greek bracket, with Kappa Sig A and Phi Delt A out, the championship game featured Sigma Chi A taking on Kappa Sig B. Sigma Chi was able to pull out the win 10-6 heading into the Greek Championship Game taking on Delta Chi A who ran through the Red Bracket with ease. In the Greek final Delta Chi’s bats went cold as they could only muster up three runs as Sigma Chi put 11 on the board winning the Greek Championship setting up a showdown with the Men’s Open Champ. Every once in a while a blind squirrel finds an acorn and 3 Legged Wade Boggs found themselves in the Open Championship Game facing perennial powerhouse Franchise. In getting to the big game teams were only scoring 4 runs against Boggs but even better they were only scoring 9 runs themselves, giving Franchise great odds for the win. I’m not sure if crazier things have happened but 3 Legged Wade Boggs walked away with a 9-5 win over Franchise and clinching there spot in the All-U Championship Game. Again, Sigma Chi could only score four runs giving Boggs a chance the claim the victory and they did just that winning the game14-4.
