11/11/2005
Flag Football concluded on Monday, and it was one of the greatest finishes in recent history. Recapping each division, we will start with the Greek Red division, or should I say the Theta Chi division. Delta Chi ‘A’ blew out Sigma Nu ‘A’ 42-6, only to face Theta Chi ‘A’ in the next round. Theta Chi ‘A’ got to this showdown by beating Chi Psi ‘A’ 22-0. Theta Chi ‘A’ then continued their mastery of Delta Chi ‘A’, producing a close 13-6 victory. Phi Kappa Psi ‘A’ beat Delta Chi ‘C’ 35-12, but fell to Pi Kappa Phi ‘A’ 18-0 the next hour. Pi Kappa Phi ‘A’ got to that round by beating Sigma Pi ‘A’ 8-6. In the Greek Red finals, Theta Chi ‘A’ got a scare out of Pi Kappa Phi ‘A’, but pulled out a 7-6 victory on the last play of the game. Theta Chi ‘A’ claimed yet another Greek Red Championship Sunday night, and they have cemented their spot in the annals of Greek Red IM Sports. In Greek Black action the past few days, Fiji ‘B’ upset Beta ‘A’ 9-0, and Fiji ‘A’ also upset Kappa Sigma ‘A’ 7-6. Sigma Chi ‘A’ snuck by Phi Delt ‘B’ 7-6, and in keeping with the close games all throughout the Black division, Phi Delt ‘A’ came from behind to beat Delt ‘A’ 27-21. In the Semi-Finals of the Black Division, Sigma Chi ‘A’ struggled to get past Fiji ‘A’ 12-7, and Phi Delt ‘A’ has an even tougher time beating Fiji ‘B’ 20-18. In the Black Championship, Sigma Chi ‘A’ shut down Phi Delt ‘A’ and their vaunted offense, winning 13-0. In Women’s play, the Petters knocked off last year’s champs JTG 18-8, and Lil Black Sheep destroyed TTU Women’s Rugby 29-0. That set up the much-anticipated championship between LBS and the Petters. After a great game the ‘Sheep claimed a 6-0 victory, and the Women’s Open Championship. In Co-Rec Star, Dre Lu Da Kidz continued their repeat aspirations by beating Bibendum’s 21-19 with a defensive stand on the final play. The Jersey Chasers also has a close game, beating Z-Team 6-0. Tri-Delt ‘A’ took the Women’s Greek title by ending DG1’s upset-driven season 7-6. In the Co-Rec Star Championship the Jersey Chasers whooped up on Dre Lu Da Kidz 27-0 to claim the title. In Co-Rec Raider action, Attractive Nuisance beat the Pompous Law Prix 17-6 to claim the Co-Rec Raider Championship. In Men’s Open play the Franchise beat ATX Boys 28-0, and Ohh Peaches upset Orange Is The New Pink 25-20. In the Men’s Open Championship Franchise blew out Ohh Peaches 34-6. The Rookies beat team Scoregasms 19-0 to claim the Men’s Raider Championship. Winding down to the All-University night, Franchise mercy ruled the Residence Hall Champs, Coleman Wrecking Crew, 40-0. Sigma Chi ‘A’ beat Theta Chi ‘A’ 26-7 in a surprisingly close game. Lil’ Black Sheep took the Women’s All-U crown by beating Tri Delt ‘A’ 19-6, and Franchise won Men’s All-U, after they dismantled Sigma Chi ‘A’ 28-0. Well folks, that’s all for the IM Flag Football season! We still have several teams traveling to Regional tournaments to compete for a spot in the National Flag Football Championships, and as soon as I get results from those tournaments, I will let you know. We will also be sending out Brett Jackson to get highlights from the Nebraska Regional Football Championships, where the Franchise will be looking to repeat as Champions. Se be sure to check back periodically for results, and also check back soon for the 2nd Annual All-Randle team! Thanks once again for following my page throughout the semester, and remember…..basketball is right around the corner!

Today’s spotlight is one I always do around this time, and I’m talking about the officials. Once again, I pay homage to these great student workers. .. Key word student. Keep in mind these are your fellow Red Raider classmates who come out to work for us, go through trainings, and then get sent to work to officiate some tough games. And besides, if we had no officials, we would have no intramurals! So please take the time to show these students the respect and praise they deserve because, if it were that easy, everyone would be an official! To all the IM officials out there, we say THANK YOU!
