What is Vertical Plains Adventure Festival?:
Vertical Plains is a weekend celebration of the world we live in with a little climbing thrown in. The weekend includes the acclaimed Telluride Mountainfilm Festival on Tour, a premier showcase of the best outdoor and environmental films from around the globe. The Vertical Plains Climbing Competiition, West Texas' best competition for skilled and beginning rock climbers.

The Mountainfilm on Tour is dedicated to educating and inspiring audiences about issues that matter, cultures worth exploring, environments worth preserving and conversations worth sustaining.

The 9th Annual Vertical Plains Climbing Competition is the biggest event hosted by the Outdoor Pursuits Center every year. It is a climbing competition that draws over 100 competitors from around the southwest and promotes camaraderie, sportsmanship, and the love of climbing. The competition is open to climbers of all levels, with three skill classes available: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. We encourage everyone, regardless of their experience, to join in the competition to have a great time!

When and Where?
Telluride Mountainfilm Festival Friday, February 13 7:00 - 9:30pm Allen Theatre, Student Union Building Tickets will be available on Select-A-Seat Lubbock for $5 Free for students and climbing competitors
Vertical Plains Climbing Competiion Saturday, February 14 8:00am - 6:00pm Awards Ceremony to follow Climbing Wall, Student Rec Center	2009 Registration Form

Registration Info:
Early climber registration is due by February 6. Registration begins Monday, January 12. Registration forms are available at the climbing wall, in the OPC, or you may click here to download the form: 2009 Registration Form
Late registration will be accepted up to the day off the competition.

Climbing Waiver :
All climbers must return the completed waiver with their registration form. If under the age of 18 the waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Click Here to Download

Prizes and Awards :
All Competitors will receive a Vertical Plains T-Shirt with registration.
There will be drawings held at both the Mountainfilm Festival and Climbing Competition. Each climber will recieve free goodies and awards will be given to the top three climbers in each division. Just check out our sponsors! You know we have great prizes!

Collegiate Climbing Series:
Vertical Plains is the first competition in the 2009 Texas Region Collegiate Climbing Series, a new intercollegiate competiition curcuit just for college students. Climbers who compete in the Collegiate Climbing Series will be competing against other university climbers for bragging rights and national recognition!
