DON”T FORGET:
Please put an ESTIMATED SWIM TIME for 400 yards. The race will be short course (400 yards). We will seed people in the water by the seed time. It will be subtracted from the overall time.
1. All participants must be body marked. This will take place between 7:15-7:45 am.
2. Swim: the swim start will be in the lane line just north of the diving well/deep area. Swim up and back in each lane line on the right side. Pass on the left side. Look ahead to make sure you are not going to swim into someone. After swimming up and back go under the lane line and continue doing this in each lane a total of 8 times. Exit at the northwest most corner of the pool by using the ladder. Swimmers will be started at 15 second increments.
3. Transition area will be on the North side of the Aquatic Center on the blue sitting area. The spots are not assigned and are available to the first participant to claim it. Participants will enter in the designated spot and proceed up the steps until they reach the row in which their spot is located. When ready to leave the transition area, participants will proceed to the opposite end of their row to the top step. Then participants will go left to the west side of the transition partisan and proceed down the steps to the deck. Use the EMERGENCY EXIT DOORS. No spectators in the transition area. There is no food or drink allowed in the transition area other than bottled water. The ants are attracted very fast when food is around.
4. Runners will run on the cinder Rec track when available and on the left side of the street toward traffic everywhere else on the course. The course will begin at the AC and proceed toward the west side of the Student Rec Center to the Rec jogging track. Go south on the track until 18th street, then go left on the track to the 18th/Flint intersection, cross the street and continue on 18th to Akron, turn left and run to the Administration building and turn left into the parking lot. Proceed through the parking lot and make a short left and then an immediate right onto 15th street, go to Flint and turn right moving over to the left side of the road and getting back onto the jogging track. Follow the jogging track back to the AC and repeat one more time. Stay on the jogging track around the Rec Center (you do not need to go back to the front of the AC). This is approximately 4 miles. There will be corner marshals
5. Please let the race director know if you retire or are unable to finish the race so we will not be waiting for you to finish.
6. Awards will be given as soon as calculations can be made after the last participant finishes.
7. Participant Responsibility - It is your responsibility as an athlete to know the guidelines and course route. There is a map on the web at www.recsports.ttu.edu. Please check it out and understand that you are responsible. There will be marshals who can help in direction but you need to know where you are going. There will be lap counters.
8. Teams – the swimmer will tag the runner’s hand at their spot in the transition area and will proceed to the run from there. Follow the transition area route (see above). No exceptions
9. Race Day – everyone must check in at the north entrance of the SRC and get body marked between 7:15 and 7:45 am. Pre race meeting will begin at 7:45 am in the Aquatic Center near the transition area. Swimmers will be lined up by their number in the diving well at 7:50 am. Race will start at 8:00 am. |
