Water Polo (W)
The Texas Tech Women's Water Polo team was founded in 2008. The team is affiliated with The Student Rec Center, The Student Union Building, and The Collegiate Water Polo Association. We participate in the Texas Club Division. We compete against University of Texas, Texas A&M, Rice, Baylor, Trinity, Texas State club teams. The men's club teams compete in during the Fall semester, and we compete in the Spring semester. We play in three tournaments, and in four games during each tournament. This spring we are hosting one of the three tournaments! This is the first time Texas Tech has hosted a water polo tournament, and we are very excited about it.
Currently our team is made up of around 14 players. We practice with the men's team, but in order to compete on the women's team every player must be female and a full-time student at Texas Tech University. We practice at the Rec Aquatic Center from 8:00-10:00pm on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's. We also hold a Sunday afternoon practices. Although we are student run, we have a student "coach", and like any other registered student organization is required, we have an advisor. Our team's leadership positions include: President, Treasurer, and Captains. We work close to make decisions, and plan events such as fundraisers, community service events, or just social "get-together's".
Our team is a great way to meet and make new friends, stay in shape, play a fun and challenging sport in the water, travel throughout Texas, and to take part in leadership of a registered and accomplished sport club at Tech!
