Tennis Club Selected as Club of the Year

The Tennis Club was selected as the United States Tennis Association's (USTA) Club of the Year within the Texas Section. This is the club's first award of this magnitude as they also received an automatic bid to Nationals in April 2008 in Cary, NC. The Tennis Club is very active within the Lubbock tennis community by volunteering at local tennis tournaments, teaching and instructing at middle school events and attending Women's Varsity matches. Their competitive season starts next weekend at the Baylor Regional Tournament. Congrats and good luck, Tennis Club!

 

Tech Women's and Men's Gymnastics Score 2nd Place Finishes
Feb. 2, 2008

 The Tech Gymnastics Club hosted the Tech Meet on Feb. 2nd at TEGA. The meet included the University of Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas State, Baylor Univesity and Hardin-Simmons. For the Men, Adam Patricka finished first in the All-Around competition - he finished 1st on the Floor Exercise, Parallel Bars and Rings. Tomas Berdoza finished 2nd on the High Bar, Larry Warren finished 6th on the Floor Exercise and as whole the Men's Team finished 2nd overall behind the University of Texas.

For the Women, Jill Conoley finished 4th in the All-Around Competition - she finished 3rd on the Balance Beam and 2nd on the Floor Exercise. Cara Jacksits won the Vault with a 9.200 and Sarah Gummelt tied for 3rd on the Floor Exersice with a 9.500. The Women finished in 2nd behind the University of Texas.

Double T Fencing Club hosts Tech Open

The Double T Fencing Club hosted the annual Tech Open at the SUB Ballroom the weekend of Jan. 25. The results are as follow:

Mixed Epee (B2 event 30 fencers total)
 
Aaron Clements placed 3rd and earned a C08, Jared Slaughter placed 13th, Jared Brandon placed 15th, Clint McCalla placed 16th, Travis Ferrell 18th, Mark Webb 19th, Hanson Wallace 20th, Ryan Janssen 23rd and Thomas Nazworth 26th .
