International Transfer Admissions

International students not living in the United States are encouraged to apply a year in advance. Transfer students will be admitted to Texas Tech by meeting one of the following standards:
Transfer students with less than 12 hours must meet the admission requirements for freshmen students entering Texas Tech from high school, have at least a 2.00 grade point average and be eligible to return to the institution from which they are transferring. Students whose native language is not English must also present a score of at least 550 (paper exam) or 213 (computer exam) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The TOEFL requirement may also be waived if the student has attended a U.S. high school or college for at least two years or if the student is a citizen in a country where English is the native language. Information concerning the TOEFL may be obtained from Educational Testing Service, PO Box 899, Princeton, New Jersey 08540, USA. Further testing will be given once the student arrives on campus to verify competency. Students lacking adequate English proficiency will be required to enroll in basic English courses.
