Texas Tech Researchers Part of Award-Winning Team

 

Three Texas Tech researchers are part of an international team that will share a $3 million reward for detecting gravitational waves for the first time.

Professor Benjamin Owen, assistant professor Alessandra Corsi, and postdoctoral researchers Santiago Caride, Robert Coyne and Ra Inta participated in the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) Scientific Collaboration. In 2015, LIGO detected gravitational waves, a key component of Einstein's theory of relativity, for the first time.
