In the Field: Which Way the Wind Blows
By: Jason Cannon
John Davis doesn’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, but he does need the help of an atmospheric scientist in the season premiere of In the Field.
Brian Ancell from Texas Tech's Atmospheric Science Group shows John how wind turbines can actually impact the weather. Large wind farms can cause inadvertent changes to the weather downstream. Brian uses a few simple demonstrations (and some serious computing power) to illustrate what this means for our atmosphere.
