South Plains BioTech

The SPB is a medical technology accelerator. One role of South Plains Biotechnology (SPB) is to facilitate the commercialization of research from Scientists on the Faculty of TTUHSC. The company will serve as a platform to allow Faculty to submit STTR grants to the NIH, NSF, DOD, and other federal agencies. Those projects that are successful will then be evaluated by the company for patenting and marketing potential. SPB will then further develop this promising intellectual property from TTU Health Sciences Center to form new spin-off companies to address the unmet needs of the medical industry. This is made possible through our corporate partner Viridis BioPharma PVT. LTD. The company also assists scientists in carrying out research in SPB's laboratories to move the product to a stage that will further its commercial potential.

SPB identifies the most promising medical technologies from the University research labs through the use of a broad evaluation process. Once a project is on board, SPB will share information on promising technologies with industry partners and use their feedback in determining which technologies to spin out into new companies. SPB's leadership will form the initial management team and supplement the scientific team by providing expertise in both business development and technology development. SPB will also lead efforts in securing non-dilutive financing and venture financing for technology and company development.
