Practicum Training Rotations
The SCC offers practicum students the opportunity to participate in one, or more, of the following rotations while completing a practicum here. A training rotation is optional; if a student is interested, s/he may request to participate in one of the following rotations:
Intake Interviewing:
The SCC has recently moved to a Walk-In Clinic format. Practicum students choosing this rotation will trade a therapy client hour for an intake hour weekly during which they will see any student coming to the SCC for either an intake or emergency evaluation. Practicum students will be assigned cases ahead of staff to assure that they will see clients during this hour.
Outreach Presentations:
Currently under revision-please check with practicum coordinator if you have an interest in this rotation. Thank you.
Group Therapy:Â
As a practicum student you have the opportunity to get involved with our group therapy program, which has become rather popular. During your first semester here you can participate as a process observer and during your second semester you can, with the endorsement of your group leaders from your first semester, co-lead a group. All practicum students doing the group rotation will also need to participate in a special supervision group for practicum students. If you have completed course work in group therapy you may waive this requirement. The last option is to co-facilitate a 4-week psycho-educational workshop with one of our staff members.
Relationship Enhancement Center (REC) (Spring Semester Only):
The REC provides a special focus on couples' therapy in a unique setting with live supervision. This is a rich opportunity to develop your skills as a couples’ therapist. Please note that this rotation takes place in the Spring semester only and may not be offered every Spring semester.
*****Participation in all rotations is subject to availability and acceptance into the rotation.*****
