Approach to Therapy: I believe that people are inherently good and are capable of growth, but people can experience problems when they attempt to fit their environments’ expectations without having the opportunity to explore themselves deeply enough to develop coherent identities. I hope to greet clients with openness, warmth, and a nonjudgmental stance on their issues, striving to find positive aspects of every individual. I attempt to identify any patterns and themes that may not be working for clients, and I try to respond in a different manner than my clients have previously experienced, providing corrective emotional experiences. My clients and I work collaboratively to identify their emotions, placing an emphasis on fully experiencing emotions to restructure them. Learning how to gain access to and awareness of emotions is a skill that clients can utilize for the rest of their journeys through their lives. Integrating authenticity, openness, and warmth, I enjoy assisting a wide range of individuals and groups by providing safe spaces for them to explore and gain awareness into their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions so that they may blossom into more congruent individuals.

Approach to Supervision: My supervision framework is loosely based on my therapeutic orientation. I hope to develop a collaborative and strong working relationship with my supervisees where they are comfortable exploring themselves and their professional identities as developing counselors. Additionally, I hope to allow space for my supervisees to explore their strengths and growth areas as they gain more experience with counseling with the goal of helping my supervisees become better able to assess their own growth as counselors. I may want us to work together in exploring the following areas: Intervention skills, client conceptualization, individual and multicultural differences, theoretical orientation, treatment planning, and the interplay of relationships between client and therapist, as well as supervisee and supervisor.
