Student Organization Funding Qualifications & Guidelines
Funding is open to all Texas Tech Student Organizations regardless of race, creed, color, sex, marital status, national origin, age, or handicap.
Groups and organizations excluded from funding:
(including, but not limited to)
- Any organization not registered with Student Activities
- Any organization that can be funded by other Student Affairs Departments (ie. Rec Center, Student Media, etc)
- Club Sports/Teams
- Intramural Sports
- Organizations that significantly restrict membership
- Defined as an organization that uses criteria that are beyond the students’ control to gain membership in the organization
- Organizations that restrict membership based on anything other than GPA, college, and classification cannot be funded
- Publications (newspapers, magazines e.g.)
- Organizations who receive funding directly from Student Service Fees
Graduate & Undergraduate Organizations
In order to determine an organization’s status as graduate or undergraduate, the organization must submit a membership roster with the students classifications included during the application process.
First Year Organizations
Organizations will be considered “First Year Organizations” and subject to the first year cap if one of the following applies:
- If an organization ceases to exist on campus and then returns
- The organization is newly formed/started
- Organizations who have not applied for funding in the previous 3 years
Organizations are exempt from the first year cap if one of the following applies:
- If an organization only applies for funding every other year
- If an organization skips a year of funding. However, the organization will be eligible for funding up to the same amount as the last year they were funded, but will not be eligible for an increase
Registration with Student Activities
Any organization seeking funding must be registered with Student Activities by Friday, January 25, 2008 at 5:00pm. Organizations that are not registered with Student Acitivities will not be eligible to receive funding. For more information regarding registration please contact Student Activities at 742-3636.
General Guidelines
Organizations are not eligible for more than a 100% increase from one funding year to the next.
Organizations cannot be decreased by more than 50% from one funding year to the next unless the organization is removed from the bill entirely.
