Texas Tech Archaeological Field School: Summer 1, 2012

All anthropology majors or minors or any interested undergraduate or graduate students are invited and encouraged to join us for the 2012 Texas Tech Field School near Navasota, Texas. We are now accepting application for the program, which will occur during the Summer I session (May 21–June 25). Undergraduates can sign up for 6 hours of credit (ANTH 5343) and graduate students can sign up for 3¬–6 hours of credit (ANTH 5343).

Where?

The field school will take place outside Navasota, Texas on a 250-acre ranch where both prehistoric and historic archaeological sites are present. Specifically, we will be focusing on the excavation of an 1836 plantation house and a survey of the property in order to locate and record all archaeological sites present. We will be camping on the property in a beautiful shaded grove near the Brazos River. Students will stay at the ranch during the week but will have weekends free.
