The Texas Tech Cheer Squad is
comprised of up to 32 talented cheerleaders. Current members work
for such organizations as NCA, UCA, America's Best, and many all
star gyms across Texas.
The Texas Tech Cheerleaders are one
of the upcoming powerhouses of cheerleading. After competing
in the national championship, the 2007-2008 Texas Tech Cheerleaders placed 5th
place in the National Cheerleaders Association Collegiate Cheer &
Dance Championship. Head coach, Joshua Anderson, choreographed
the routine putting Texas Tech Cheer back in the top five
cheerleading programs in the nation for the second consecutive year. In the past, the Tech
Cheerleaders have placed at the national competition level including
4th
place, 5th place, and winning the All-Girl division in
2000.
Members of the Cheer Squad perform at
all football games, women’s home volleyball games, and men’s and
women’s home basketball games. In addition, cheerleaders travel to
all post season football bowl games, Big 12 tournament basketball
games, and NCAA/NIT basketball tournament games. The squad also
represents Texas Tech at many university and community events
throughout the year.
