Meeting Minutes - April 2, 2003
Call to Order; Maurice Welch, President, Presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call
Senators Present: Burdine, Ford, Graham, McAnear, Schuessler, Younger, Tiner, Wade, Cochran, Dragich, Rubino, Carson, Cates, Guinn, Chen, Fernandez, Hancock, Hunter, Kitten, McDonald, Naugher, Reynolds, Welch, Burns, Jasper, Miranda, Segura, Vazquez, Vinson, Cooper, Johnson, Snider. Senators Absent: Bowen, Kinney, Boyer, Crocket, Benton, Lewis, McConnel, Moore, Nail, Williams, Chavez, Esquibel, Barron, Lowe.
A. Minutes from March 5, 2003 Meeting- Maria Fernandez
Changes were noted, Tim Segura made a motion to approve the minutes, it was seconded by Kathy Schuessler. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report for March-Jeanine Reynolds
March report was reviewed and no changes were noted.
Motion was made by Susan Kitten and seconded by Pat Cates to approve the report. Motion carried.
Communications/Public Relations Committee-Maurice Welch for Ron Nail
Staff Senators will participate in the Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, April 25th. The actual planting will begin at 1:15 p.m., a concert will precede the planting. Senators who want to volunteer were asked to sign up.
President's Report-Maurice Welch
The Staff Senate shirts are ready for Senators that were present at the last general meeting and signed the shirt list, can be picked up today. Senators who were not present can sign up so that we can order the correct size shirt today. Senators were asked to sign a shirt list so that there will be a record of who has picked up their shirts.
Senators Maurice Welch and Everne Williams are currently serving on the TTU Presidential Search Committee. If anyone has a name of an individual who they wish to recommend for the job of the president, they can submit the name to the search committee.
A committee will be formed to research what TTU and the Lubbock community do for TTU employees, i.e. discounts at various locations throughout the Lubbock community.
William McDonald is actively working on building the web page for the Staff Senate.
The Scholarship Committee is researching the possibility of offering a Staff Senate Textbook Scholarship to TTU employees.
A question was asked in regards to the summer hours for employees. Staff Senate has not received official notice of the summer hours.
A memo was distributed informing departments of the energy conservation guidelines.
Reminder to committees to inform President Maurice Welch or President-Elect Chance Dragich of the committee meeting times.
Next Executive Board Meeting is scheduled fro April 30, 2003; 3:00 p.m. UC Llano Estacado Room.
Next Staff Senate Meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2003 at 3:00 p.m.
A motion was made to adjourn by Patrick Hancock and seconded by Shannon Younger. Motion carried.
