- STEM-CORE Summer Initiatives
The Center is busy this summer assisting and leading multiple Center and Partner programs.
- Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE)
TTU hosted two CASE institutes from June 21-July 1: Agricultural Systems - Animal
and Introduction to Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
- Noyce Scholars (Phase II): First Summer Internships
Nine Pre-Noyce Summer Fellows were involved in immersive summer teaching experiences.
- Science: It's a Girl Thing
- Summer Math Academy (SuMAc)
The 2015 TTU SuMAc engaged talented students from local high schools in a two-week,
hands-on program designed to further their knowledge and understanding of population
growth models through programming, mathematics, and research.
- TTU/LISD Middle School STEM Challenge
Partnering with Lubbock Independent School District for a second summer, 10 middle
schools competed in a week-long event constructing Rube Goldberg machines. Visit the

- TTU PRISM & iSTEM
Groups of talented Texas Tech undergraduate students and Chinese high school students
will collaborate in this innovative joint summer research program. This year will
focus on ecology and conservation with presentations led by TTU College of Agricultural
Science & Natural Resources faculty.
- Active STEM Program (aSTEM)
New this summer, aSTEM is a sports-based camp targeting middle school minority males.
- Call for Papers
CBE—Life Sciences Education (LSE; www.lifescied.org) will publish a special issue in 2016 on broadening participation in the life sciences.
