Tech Savvy Event: On Saturday, February 18, STEM CORE is working with the American Association of University
Women to host the 2nd Annual Tech Savvy Event. This event, designed for middle school
girls and their parents, will allow the students to explore STEM careers and be encouraged
to follow their dreams. This is the only Tech Savvy event to run in Texas. For more

Lubbock Aquarium: Lubbock is getting an aquarium, and STEM CORE is working to help identify educational
and research needs. If you are interested in supporting the Lubbock Aquarium, visit

please let us know.
Big 12 Teaching and Learning Conference: The 4th annual conference is now accepting proposals! The theme for the conference
is Engaging Students in the Learning Process. If you teach an online class, and would
be interested in partnering on a proposal, please let us know. The deadline for proposal submissions is Wednesday, March 1. This year's first keynote presentation will be given by Dr.
Elizabeth F. Barkley, Professor of Music History at Foothill College, Los Altos, California,
and the second keynote will be given by Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, Associate Professor
of Political Science and Director of the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech University.
Advancing Teaching and Learning Conference: The 13th annual conference is now open for registration! The conference will be held on Friday, March 3rd at the Overton Hotel. This year's
keynote presentation will feature Dr. Mary-Ann Winkelmes, Coordinator of Instructional
Development and Research and an Associate Graduate Faculty member in the Department
of History at the University Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). For more information about
