Campus Sexual Assault Procedures

Sex Offenses

Sex offense prevention and education programs are offered through the Crime Prevention Division of the Texas Tech Police Department. These programs promote the awareness of sexual assault, acquaintance rape, and other sex offenses; encourage students and employees to report sex offenses; educate students and employees about the detrimental effects of victim-blaming attitudes; and strive to ensure that campus personnel do not discourage victims from reporting sexual assaults.

Victims of on campus sex offenses are encouraged to report the incident to the Texas Tech Police Department at 9-911 or (806) 742-3931 and the Rape Crisis Center at (806) 763-3232.

Victims of off campus sex offenses are encouraged to report the incident to the Lubbock Police Department at 911 or (806) 775-2865, or the appropriate law enforcement agency with jurisdiction. The Lubbock Police Department will notify the Rape Crisis Center.

The Center for Campus Life (806) 742-5433, upon request, will assist students who are victims of sex offenses in notifying local law enforcement agencies and will assist victims of sex offenses in facilitating alternative housing arrangements both on campus and in the Lubbock community. In cases involving students who are alleged to have committed sex offenses, the Student Judicial Programs (806) 742-1714 will follow the disciplinary procedures under the Code of Student Conduct (Requires Acrobat Reader) described in the Student Affairs Handbook and notify the alleged student victim and alleged accused student of the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings including any disciplinary sanctions, condition, and/or restrictions.
