Scholarship Opportunities
Olive-Pfluger Scholarship
The Olive-Pfluger Scholarship is
awarded annually to students with documented learning disabilities or attention
deficit disorders.
Scholarship Award
The Olive-Pfluger Scholarship is awarded each summer for the following academic
year. Recipients will receive $1200 for the fall semester and $1200 for the spring semester as long as they continue to be enrolled in courses
at Texas Tech University during that academic year.
Applicant Criteria
Applicants for
the Olive-Pfluger Scholarship must be students currently enrolled at Texas Tech
University. Applicants must also be currently registered with the Student
Disabilities Office with documented learning disabilities or attention deficit
disorders.
Application
To apply for
the Olive-Pfluger Scholarship, students must submit the following:

A letter of recommendation from a Texas Tech University faculty member or academic advisor
Scholarship Selection Criteria
Scholarship
recipients will be selected on the basis of the applicant’s progress toward
his/her educational goals. Financial need will be a consideration, but not the
overriding determinant.
Scholarship Selection Committee
Representatives from the Student Financial Aid/Scholarship Office, Student
Disability Services, the TECHniques Center, and campus representatives comprise
the scholarship selection committee.
Notification of Scholarship Awards
Letters will
be sent to all applicants’ permanent address by June 4, 2007. Scholarship
recipients are expected to mail a thank you letter to the Pfluger family with a
copy sent to the Student Disability Services Office by August 1, 2007 in order
to be awarded the scholarship.
Application Deadline
Applications must be submitted to the Student Disability Services
Office (335 West Hall) by 5:00pm on May 4, 2007. Questions about the

William H. Good Scholarship
The William H. Good Science Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who meets one of the following criteria (preference is to be given in the order listed):

Is physically, mentally, or emotionally disabled (including in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction) majoring in Physics with the intent of pursuing a career in transistors or semi-conductors

Is physically, mentally, or emotionally disabled (including in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction) majoring in Chemistry
-
Is physically, mentally, or emotionally disabled (including in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction) majoring in any science degree program within the College of Arts and Sciences
-
Is physically, mentally, or emotionally disabled (including in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction) majoring in any degree program within the College of Arts and Sciences.
Scholarship Award
The William
H. Good Science Scholarship is awarded each summer for the following academic
year. The Recipient will receive $250 for the fall semester and $250 for the spring semester as long as they continue to be enrolled in courses
at Texas Tech University during that academic year.

Clyde and Ouida Black Scholarship
The Clyde and Ouida Black Scholarship is awarded to two students who must have an implanted listening device or use an assistive listening device such as an FM system or hearing aids and be able to
communicate orally. The selected students must show financial need by applying for financial aid at Texas Tech.
Priority will be given to incoming freshman or transfer students.
Scholarship Award
The Clyde and Ouida Black Scholarship is awarded each summer for the following academic year. The recipient will receive $500 for the fall semester and $500 for the spring semester as long as they
continue to be enrolled in courses at Texas Tech University during that academic year. The scholarship will follow the recipient through graduation, as long as that student remains a full time student with Texas Tech University.

Letters will be sent to all applicants’ permanent address by June 14, 2008. Scholarship recipients are expected to mail a thank you letter to the Black family with a copy sent to the Student Disability Services Office by August 1, 2008 in order to be awarded the scholarship.
Application Deadline
