Exemptions and Waivers for Military and Veteran Students and Their Dependents

Combat Exemption for Children of Military Service Members

TTU Requirement: Student must provide SBS with a signed Third Party Contract, as well as provide proof of service member’s deployment from the Department of Defense for the relevant semester or academic term. Examples of proof of deployment include: military orders, pay records from service member’s unit to which he/she is assigned, etc.

Exemption for Texas Veterans and their dependents (Hazlewood Act)

TTU Requirement: Student must apply and provide documentation to the Office of Military and Veteran Programs each semester. The Office of Military and Veteran Programs will notify SBS to apply the exemption to the student account.

Exemption for Orphans of Texas Members of the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard (Hazlewood Act)

TTU Requirement: Student must apply and provide documentation to the Office of Military and Veteran Programs each semester. The Office of Military and Veteran Programs will notify SBS to apply the exemption to the student account.

Waiver of Nonresident Tuition for Military After Assignment in Texas

Waiver of Nonresident Tuition for Military Assigned to Duty in Texas

Waiver of Nonresident Tuition for Honorably Discharged, Separated or Retired Veterans who Move to Texas

Waiver for Persons Eligible for Veterans Educational Benefits, Their Spouses and Children who Move to Texas

TTU requirement: Student must submit a letter of intent to establish residence in Texas to Student Business Services.
